Ascension of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, 1921

‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Baháʼu’lláh’s son and the Centre of His Covenant, passed away peacefully at his home in Haifa, at the age of 77. The funeral procession, on 29 November 1921, consisted of some10,000 people.  At the ceremony, eulogies were given by dignitaries representing the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá was interred in the Shrine of the Báb.  A ew, separate Shrine, which will be his permanent resting-place, is currently under construction Mount Carmel.
